The Lincoln Group of DC held a meeting of the Board on June 25, 2022, which served as the official transition of our Treasurer duties from Matt Perdoni to Janet Saros. As president, I want to thank Matt and welcome Janet.

Matt Perdoni served as the Lincoln Group Treasurer for a long (long) time. He was brought into the fold by the late Paul Pascal something like 10 years ago (or maybe it was longer ago than that) and has served with distinction ever since. A practicing lawyer, Matt is a tax law specialist and worked at the IRS before becoming Counsel and Director of Business Development at Independent Sector, a non-profit assistance organization.

But with two small children and a booming practice, it was time for Matt to move on and he did not stand for reelection in the current cycle. Having been on the Board as Vice President for many years and now President for the last year or so, I've come to appreciate Matt's attention to detail and dedication to his duties as the organization's treasurer. So, from all of us at the Lincoln Group, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your years of contribution.

With Matt's departure we are happy to welcome Janet Saros in his stead. Janet had a long career as a professor at Mongomery College, a public community college with campuses in Rockville, Germantown, and Takoma Park, Maryland. She was a full-time professor for over 30 years as well as coordinator of the Hospitality Management Department, before semi-retiring and teaching as an adjunct professor.

Janet is no stranger to the Lincoln Group. She is a long-time member of the LGDC Study Forum, or book discussion group that meets monthly, originally in the Ford's Theatre Education Center conference room but since COVID has continued to meet on Zoom. You'll also have seen Janet in attendance at our in-person dinner meetings at Maggiano's, including the most recent one in June as we returned to real food with real meetings.

Welcome to your new role as LGDC Treasurer. Janet got off to a blazing start as she worked with Matt not only to transition the accounts but did so while fielding all the expenses for the May 22nd Lincoln Memorial program.

While we're on official hiatus from scheduled events this summer, the Lincoln Group is planning for a busy fall season. So, keep an eye on this website and your email in-box for some exciting programs and tons of opportunities for learning more about Lincoln.
