It's Time to Register for the Lincoln Forum

By David J. Kent

Thursday, June 23, 2022

It's June, which means it's time to register for the Lincoln Forum to be held in Gettysburg, November 16-18, 2022. As was evident in our group photo taken last year (which only captured about half of the Lincoln Group of DC members present), there are a lot of Lincoln Group members who are also members of the Forum. Those members should have received emails from the new Forum administrator in recent weeks. Available slots are filling up, so register for the conference and book your hotel soon. [You must be a Forum member to attend]

This Forum should be especially enticing for the Lincoln Group. We've had a busy year, not the least of which was the May 22nd Lincoln Memorial Centennial program on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. [Check out this post for the link to C-SPANs video] Forum Chairman Harold Holzer played a major role in the Memorial program and the Lincoln Forum was a co-sponsor of the event. In addition to six (or was it seven) events associated with the centennial, the Lincoln Group have had many other events so far this year and have many more coming up over the next several months. So, naturally we'll want to brag and show photos to our fellow Lincoln aficionados.

Lincoln Group president David J. Kent will join with Harold Holzer on the middle night of the Forum (November 17) to present a slide show report on the Lincoln Memorial Centennial. David will also have a breakout session with fellow Lincoln Group scientist/Lincoln historian Ed Steers to talk about Lincoln's commitment to science and technology, the topic of his new book, Lincoln: The Fire of Genius, which will be available at the Forum onsite bookstore. David will also be signing books on Thursday afternoon.

Beyond that, the Forum will feature talks by luminaries such as Walter Stahr, Jonathan White, John Avlon, and Jon Meacham. There will also be the usual panels and presentations, happy hours, full meals, awards, and much more. The full slate of speakers is listed on the Lincoln Forum's new web page, from which you can also register (remember, you have to be a Forum member to come to the meeting).

Let's show some Lincoln Group of DC spirit and plan to be at the Lincoln Forum in November. This year we'll pre-schedule the time and date for our Lincoln Group photo so we can capture all of the members attending the forum. Stay tuned for more on that and plan to attend.
