Lincoln Room At The US Capitol

Washington D.C.

February 8, 2021

Lincoln Group board members Rod Ross, David Kent, and John O'Brien sit in front of the fireplace in the Lincoln Room where Abe often sat to read his mail and develop his reputation as a story teller.

The Lincoln Group helped to plan the newest Lincoln venue on April 2019. The former mail room at the back of the old House of Representatives chamber, now Statuary Hall, was recently dedicated as the The Lincoln Room (H-226) in the US Capitol building. The Lincoln Group was one of several organizations to research, plan, and campaign for legislation that gave the room its permanent designation. The bi-partisan bill was presented by Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Darin LaHood (R-IL). The project was the idea of past president of the Lincoln Group, the late John T. Elliff, Ph.D.
