Lincoln Group Announces Fall Program Lineup

The autumn monthly meetings of the LGDC will consist of two Zoom meetings, in September and December, and one in-person/Zoom meeting being held at The Lincoln Cottage in Washington in October. As usual, there will be no program in November because of the Lincoln Forum annual meeting in Gettysburg, PA, from November 15-17. Reminders with registration forms and Zoom links will be sent out to members prior to each meeting. 

The three books being discussed this fall complement each other nicely as they examine Abraham Lincoln’s military and political leadership during his presidency:   

Wednesday, September 23, at 7 PM, Prof. Kenneth Noe, Prof. Emeritus, Auburn University, will discuss his new book, Abraham Lincoln and the Heroic Legend: Reconsidering Lincoln as Commander in Chief (LSU Press, 2026). Zoom meeting.

Tuesday, October 13, at 7 PM, there will be an in-person book conversation at The Lincoln Cottage between Prof. Matthew Pinsker, Dickinson College, author of Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln (W.W. Norton, 2026), and Francis S. Barry, a Bloomberg Opinion columnist and author of Back Roads and Better Angels: A Journey into the Heart of American Democracy. This program is being co-sponsored with the Lincoln Cottage and the Abraham Lincoln Association and will also be available by Zoom. The evening will begin with a reception starting between 5:30 and 6 PM.

Tuesday, December 8, at 7 PM, Prof. Jonathan Earle of Louisiana State University will discuss his forthcoming book, He Has the People: Abraham Lincoln and the Election of 1860.  (Oxford University Press, 2026). Zoom meeting.
