From the LGDC Board - Happy New Year!

On behalf of the Board of Directors, and as president of the Lincoln Group of DC, I want to thank all of our members for a spectacular 2022 and offer best wishes for a Happy New Year of 2023!

By anyone's standards, 2022 was an amazing year, both for the Lincoln Group and for me personally. We started by presenting a free course to our members, celebrated Lincoln's birthday with grace and panache, and put on a much-accoladed Centennial celebration on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. We also started back to in-person dinner/luncheons for members in the DC area while continuing a constant stream of Zoom-based virtual meetings open to all, including our many members living around the country. Then we topped it off by winning the prestigious Wendy Allen Award in November. [There was much more, which you can read about in this post and by scrolling back through previous news posts on this website.] Release of my newest Lincoln book in September put a personal touch on a great year.

The LGDC Board is hard at work planning programs for 2023! We have Diana Schaub on Zoom on January 17th, Jon Meacham for a modified Zoom/In-Person dinner joint meeting with the CWRTDC on February 8th, a special event we're co-sponsoring featuring Allen Guelzo at Ford's Theatre on February 9th, co-sponsorship of and participation in the ALI Symposium at Ford's on March 25th, an In-Person dinner at Maggiano's with Roger Lowenstein on April 18th, plus many more events we'll be noting on this website shortly. Again, from a personal perspective, I'll be involved in several events during the spring that Lincoln Group members are welcome to attend.

If you're not a Lincoln Group of DC member, today is a good day to join us. We're open to anyone with an interest in Abraham Lincoln and our programs are made available to members all across the country. Join here!

If you're already a member, thank you. Member donations are always welcome and needed to continue providing (and expanding) our outreach to the public. The year 2023 is the 160th anniversary of Lincoln's final Emancipation Proclamation and we're working on ways to celebrate that and other important milestones. Every donation helps!

Again, thank you to all our members for your continued support and participation. We're always open to new ideas and new volunteers to help us continue the long history of Lincoln Group of DC excellence.

On behalf of the Lincoln Group leadership, we wish everyone a Very Happy and Safe New Year!
